Head songwritin’ honcho Darrel Norrell and his fellowship of Albert Chua, Steve Serr, Danny Augugliaro, Jay Thoubbs, Ben Oliveira, and Joe Caravaglia have cooked up a style that leans on lazy nineties quirk; mellow, yachty smooth mcgrooves; and rare, accidental excerpts from the emo diaries. It’s a new voice in the persistent rabble of guitar-slingin’ anachronisms like Kurt Vile, the Jicks, or Mac Demarco.
In 2015, QL released a debut LP, and have trickled out singles since then, including the warm, bouncy “Alcohol Store” this past January. Work began on their second LP this past summer. It moves along whenever the working week hasn’t kicked their asses too hard. ETA: 2019.
